Horseshoe Bend & Antelope Canyon

On our Great American Southwest Road trip Journey…our second stop (after Las Vegas/Grand Canyon) led us northeast to what we believe is the most underrated city in the worldPAGE, ARIZONA. It is hard to believe that there is SO much to do in this otherwise small city. Mother Nature truly blessed Page, AZ. You have the Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Marble Canyon, Navajo Bridge, Lake Powell..AND SO MUCH MORE. It is an amazing little city that we think will BOOM in the next 5 years because of its natural beauty and enchantment. We were only here for a day, but we made the best of it! Below are details on our stay and our suggestions for your upcoming visit. <3

1. Stay at an actual hogan

The Hogan we stayed in is about 30 minutes away from Horseshoe Bend and 40 minutes from Page AZ. Even though it is a little far, it is very close to Navajo Bridge and to Marble Canyon. This place was absolutely ADORABLE. The couple who own it, told us how this place came to life. So before they could get married, the husband-to-be had to make this for the wife. So this is hand made (with love) from locally gathered stones and mud. There is a restroom across the walkway, but no shower, so be prepared. There is a community shower/laundry mat about 5 miles up the road though. There was NOTHING like waking up and walking outside to the gorgeous mountain-view. The address is very tricky so make sure you triple check your address on the google map and DO NOT get there late. You will not find this place at night time, as there are no street lights (we struggled hard). Get there as early as possible. There are other hogans you can rent too, this is not the only one. We booked through Air BnB and highly suggest it. To find this hogan or more like it, click here.

2. Lower Antelope Canyon

I have NEVER been so mesmerized by mother nature than when I was at Lower Antelope Canyon. YALL… it is INCREDIBLE! It is truly surreal. Looking back at the pictures, I still can’t believe I was there. The pictures don’t even do this place justice! HEADS UP: You need to book a tour and go with a guide in order to be allowed to enter the canyon. Again, it’s private property so you MUST purchase a tour to enter. We used Ken’s Tours and LOVED THEM! We suggest trying to be the last one in your group because then you can take more pictures with out feeling rushed. They have great tour guides at Ken’s, they show you the best angles to use for pictures, and even take cool shots for you. Be sure to tip your tour guide, they are definitely worth it. 3. Horse Shoe Bend

Horse Shoe Bend is another one of those places that you go to and feel like you are in a dream. I think I made V pinch me so I could know it was real. I almost teared up at it’s beauty (but never let ’em see you cry, right?!) The cost is only $10 dollars per car to enter, which is a steal! It is a bit of a walk to the actual view, only about 15 minutes, but be prepared. It can be pretty packed, but you will still get great pictures and find open spots for your photo opps. I highly suggest going here a little before sunset. We watched the sunset here and it was one of the MOST beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen. Horse Shoe Bend is about 5 miles south of Page, AZ, so make time to admire of all it’s beauty. For more information on how to get there, click here.

4. Slackers

When in Page, you must eat at Slackers. Their Green Chili Cheeseburgers are legendary. They’ve won awards for their burgers, sandwiches, and their fries. Their seasoned curly fries are literally making my mouth water right now! It is a great, local restaurant. For more on their menu or how to get there, click here.

5. Navajo Bridge

Don’t forget to get your picture with and see the magical view from the Navajo Bridge before you head out. If you stay in the Hogan we suggested, it is actually only about 4 miles away from here. It is a truly beautiful scenery, and is a great way to start or end your trip in Page. For more information on the bridge, click here.

6. Lake Powell

Visit Lake Powell! We were only here for one day, so we didn’t get to experience this, but we heard GREAT things. If we ever go back, we will definitely make a day of it. I highly suggest you do this. For more information about Lake Powell, click here.
